History of Arches Paper

The Arches paper mill, sister to the Canson mill, was founded in Lorraine, France, in 1492. Its colorful history is closely linked to the history of France. Many literary milestones and works of art have been entrusted to Arches papers, including the publication of the complete works of Voltaire, a project begun in 1784 that eventually required 70 tons of handmade Arches paper, and Napoleon's The Description of Egypt, printed between 1807 and 1823 on two million sheets of Arches paper - made by hand. In 1895, Arches entered the Industrial Age by using the cylinder mould to fabricate the finest art papers. Today, artists, printmakers and publishers around the world who require beauty, quality and performance rely on Arches. In five hundred years, that has remained exactly the same.

Artist's Statement

"Making sure each edition accurately reflects the beauty of the original work is of the highest importance to me. Each print is very much a representative of the artist and for that reason I've been extremely picky when it comes to making sure my prints look great--so I'm very excited about my new editions being printed on Arches Infinity! This paper really impressed me. With each print being made using the best pigmented inks on this nice of a paper I'm sure they will also impress the most discriminating collectors."-Erik Drudwyn
